HEADGEAR
HEADGEARS
Head covering with different
formats of headgears had been
practiced since ages, by both MALES and FEMALES and that too under ALL
RELIGIONS across the globe.
Though now a days this
practice has been practiced by only those who associate themselves very close
to their religious practices, like Pope and Nuns in all Churches cover their
heads, all Jews cover their heads, all Zorashtrian priests cover their heads,
all Muslims cover their heads and till last generation
all Hindus too covered their heads 24 hours of day, which gradually got
abolished after India getting independence.
If one observes old images /
pictures of their great grandparents and that too in any religion, one will
find their heads always covered with either a cap, turban, paghri, hat,
scalves, Saree coverings or similar such head gears.
There are couple of
reasons behind covering one's head and that includes:
The basic fundamental
is to protect head from any external damages.
To avoid hairs from
head that is also called as NASU to fall in our food / drink / operating body,
that's the reason chefs and medical staff, cover their heads.
Christianity views
head-covering as a symbol of submission to Divine authority.
Islam views the concept
of head-covering as an expression of modesty and privacy.
In Hinduism, covering
of head is treated as a mark of respect. Furthermore, the turban more commonly
known as PAAGHRI was initially tied to keep the head cool. It was actually a
way to escape from the blazing heat or to put succinctly a means to beat the
scorching heat of sun.
In ancient times,
looking to an individual’s Paagh-Paaghdi and Saafa’s sheer elegance &
tightness, it could be said whether he was brave or coward, an upright man or
honest or a thief.
In the African culture,
head is covered to ward off evil spirits.
Head being the focal
area for originating the 3G processes of GOOD THOUGHTS, GOOD WORDS & GOOD
DEEDS, is the most powerful Center of spiritual knowledge called Lahian.
The head is an astral
body part (Kehrpa) of human that requires a certain constant heat to function
properly. The steady warm temperature in that area fortifies the most exalted
part of the head that endows an individual with the power of creative thoughts,
actions and reactions.
Those who are still continuing this practice of wearing a head gear commands all the respect from all the segments of society and we often hear people wearing these head gears saying PAGHDI KA MAAN RAKHAA.
