BAHUBALI
BAHUBALI
(Journey of Bharata to Agni to Parsee’s destiny)
We all are now very
well conversant with the name “Bahubali”, because of the south Indian movie,
but in reality too BAHUBALI existed centuries back.
First of all how our
country got the name BHARAT, it's derived from the Sanskrit word Bhārata, which
was originally an epithet of AGNI. The term is a verbal noun of the Sanskrit
root bhr-, "to bear / to carry", with a literal meaning of to be
maintained (of fire).
While leaving Iran,
Parsee’s had dozens of options to migrate, as there are so many countries in
the Middle East, Northern Africa, Southern Europe and North-eastern Asia to embark
upon, but the Head Priest Naryosang Avval (Dhaval) Saheb were specifically
informed to opt only for BharatVarsh, due to the above mentioned reason, as
Parsee’s observe “Agni” as Aathro Ahurahae Mazdao Puthra, which means son of
the Almighty.
Within BharatVarsh too,
Surat was the focal point in destiny, as it’s the trio of Agni (fire) in the
form of Surya (sun) in Skies, Suryaputri (Tapti) in water and Suryapur (Surat)
in land.
According to the Puranas, our
country was known as Bharatavarsha after the Emperor Bharata. From their
parents, Bharata got the city of Vinita (Ayodhya) and his brother Bahubali got
the city of Podanapur (Taxila).
Bharata's coronation
was followed by a long journey of world conquest. During his digvijaya (winning
six divisions of earth in all directions), he acquired the nine nidhis (most
precious treasures) and fourteen ratna (jewels).
Then, he proceeded for
his capital Ayodhyapuri with a huge army and with the divine chakraratna
(spinning, disk-like super weapon with serrated edges). But the chakraratna,
surprisingly, stopped on its own at the entrance of Ayodhyapuri, signaling that
there still remain his brother Bahubali, who refused to submit and that’s when
Bharat challenged him for a fight.
As both were brothers,
use of weapons was out of question, as the purpose of the fight was to prove
the superiority and not to kill each other. So, it was decided that to settle
the dispute, three kinds of contests would be held between Bharata and
Bahubali, which included:
1)
Netrayuddha (eye-fight of staring
at each other)
2)
Jalayuddha (water-fight)
3) Malayuddha (wrestling).
Bahubali won all the
three contests, but in the last fight, instead of throwing Bharata down on the
ground in the wrestling event, he lifted him up on his shoulder and then gently
placed him on the ground, out of an affectionate regard for him. Bharata felt
very humiliated and got infuriated, calling for his divine weapon chakra-ratna
to attack on Bahubali.
But, instead of harming
Bahubali, the devine Chakra merely circled round him and came to rest in front
of him. This happened because, such divine weapons lose their effectiveness
when confronted with the master’s close relations, especially the ones who have
followed the path of good thought, good words and good deeds.
Bahubali, was great in
his thoughts, words & deeds and gave up his kingdom to his brother Bharata,
but only after proving his metal, defeating his brother and become a monk
accepting Sanayasa.
