BHARATVARSH

BHARATVARSH

World’s largest empire stands in the name of Cyrus the great, who extended its Persian empire by 5.5 million square kilometers, way back in 550 BC, spanning across Middle East, Southern & Eastern Europe, North Asia and North Africa.

On similar lines, Bharatvarsh was one of the largest empires in the world that extended from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean and from Iran to Indonesia, with an area of 83 lakh square kilometers in 1857, which got shrink to its current 33 lakh square kilometers in due course of time, mainly fragmented by external powers, whereby Afghanistan got separated in 1876, Nepal in 1904, Bhutan in 1906, Tibet in 1907, Sri Lanka in 1935, Myanmar in 1937 and Pakistan in 1947.

The old name of Sri Lanka was Sinhaldeep. The name Sinhaldeep was later renamed Ceylon. Sri Lanka’s name was Tamraparni during the reign of Emperor Ashoka. Mahendra, son of Emperor Ashoka and daughter Sanghamitra went to Sri Lanka to propagate Buddhism.

The ancient name of Afghanistan was Upganasthan and current city of Kandahar was originally Gandhara, as Afghanistan was a Shaivite country. The Gandhara described in the Mahabharata is currently in Afghanistan, from where the Kauravas’ mother Gandhari came and maternal uncle Gandhar Naresh “Shakuni”, the one & only creator of the great epic of Mahabharata war.

The ancient name of Myanmar was Brahmadesh, ruled by the Hindu king Anandavrata, which got shortened to Burma during British regime and thereafter to Myanmar.

Nepal was known as Deodhar in ancient times. Lord Buddha was born in Lumbini and mother Sita was born in Janakpur which is in Nepal today. Nepal was an integral part of Bharata during the reigns of Emperor Ashoka and Samudragupta. In 1951, Maharaja Tribhuvan Singh of Nepal appealed to the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to merge Nepal with Bharata, but Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the proposal.

Thailand was known as Syam until 1939, with major cities of Ayodhya, Shri Vijay and many more. The giant statue of “Samundra Manthan” epic at the Suvarna Bhumi international airport of Bangkok gives the testimony, along with hundreds of Hindu temples in Thailand as on date.

Cambodia is derived from the Sanskrit name Kamboj, ruled by the Kaundinya dynasty of Bharatiya origin, dating back to the first century itself. People here used to worship Shiva, Vishnu and Buddha, with Sanskrit as their national language. Even today in Cambodia, the names of Indian months such as Chet, Visakh, Asadha are used. The world famous Ankorwat temple in Yashodharpur (currently called as Siamreap) is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which was built by the Hindu king Suryadev Varman, having  its walls painted with Ramayana and Mahabharata scriptures.

Even today, most of its government organisations are named in Sanskrit, like Indonesian Police Academy (Dharma Bijaksana Kshatriya), Indonesia National Armed Forces (Tri Dharma Ek Karma), Indonesia Airlines (Garuda Airlines), Indonesia Ministry of Finance (Nagar Dhan Raksha), Indonesia Supreme Court (Dharma Yukti) and so on.

The ancient name of Tibet was Trivishtam, which was divided into two parts by British in 1907, whereby one part was given to China and the other to Lama after an agreement between the Chinese and the British. In 1954, India’s Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru accepted Tibet as complete part of China, to show his solidarity to Chinese people.

Bhutan is derived from the Sanskrit word Bhu Utthan which means high ground, it was separated from Bharata by British in 1906.

Finally, there was partition of Bharata on August 14, 1947 by the British and Pakistan came into existence as East Pakistan and West Pakistan. Mohammad Ali Jinnah had been demanding a separate country on the basis of religion since 1940 which later became Pakistan. In 1971 with the cooperation of India Pakistan was divided again and Bangladesh came into existence.

Bharatvarsh got disintegrated into several fragments in due course of time and the process of disintegration / fragmentation hasn’t stopped yet, with many groups still thriving to cut out their part of pie, for their own personal gains.

The recent drive by the current government on NATION FIRST policy should counter such malicious intents of those who want to break this great nation further, but ultimately it’s all in our hands, as we public at large should stand up in building this great nation once again to its original form, after all its BHARAT BHAGYA VIDHATA.
