SUN

SUN / SURYA DEV / KHORSHED YAZAD

The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System, which is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma and the most important source of energy for life on Earth. Its diameter is about 109 times that of Earth, and its mass is about 330,000 times that of Earth, accounting for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System.

In Persian Aryanism, it is said that earth is a minor portion of sun, that got disintegrated and travelled far away from sun, with its outer periphery getting cooled down in due course of time, but still its inner crest is full of hot burning lava.

Sun worship can be found throughout most of recorded history in various forms, including the Egyptian Ra, the Bharatiya Aryanism Surya, Persian Aryanism Khorshed Yazad, the Japanese Amaterasu, the German Sol, the Aztec Tonatiuh, the Aztecs of what is now Mexico and many more. Solar gods have a strong presence in Indonesian mythology too. The Inca of South America had their temples such as the famous Machu Picchu site in Peru, associated with an Incan religious cult, dedicated to the worship of the sun.

In paganism, the Sun was a source of life, giving warmth and illumination to mankind. In ancient Roman culture, Sunday was the day of the Sun god and was adopted as the Sabbath day by Christians. It was the center of a popular cult among Romans, who would stand at dawn to catch the first rays of sunshine as they prayed. The celebration of the winter solstice (which influenced Christmas) was part of the Roman cult of the unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus). Christian churches were built with an orientation so that the congregation faced toward the sunrise in the East.

In Bharatiya Aryanism, the same practice is followed even today in the form of ARGHYA. Offering water to the SUN god is practiced during sunrise time and during this process, spectrum of sun-rays refract through the water, impacting us positively from head to toe. This process helps us miraculously in the intellectual upliftment of the individual and it also reflects enhancement of his acumen in decision making, in eye-sight, digestion, luster, as well as splendor.

In Persian Aryanism Khorshed Niyaesh (prayer to Sun) and Maher Niyaesh (prayer to Sunlight) is termed as FARAZIYAT (mandatory), whereby it needs to be recited compulsorily and that too every day. Even for reciting any other Avestan prayers, one need to first compulsorily recite these 2 prayers specifically dedicated to Sun / Khorshed Yazad and then only proceed ahead for other prayers.

As the Sun enters the Zodiac sign of Aries, on the auspicious day of 21st March, when the length of day and night are exactly equal, Persian Aryans marks this day as birth of the Sun / Khorshed Yazad and is celebrated as JAMSHEDI NAVROZE – the beginning of Spring and New Year for the Persians worldwide.

The Sun is by far the brightest object in the sky, which is about 13 billion times brighter than the next brightest star, Sirius. The mean distance of the Sun's center to Earth's center is approximately 1 astronomical unit (about 150,000,000 km). At this average distance, light travels from the Sun's horizon to Earth's horizon in about 9 minutes and that’s the reason in Persian Aryanism, during the change of GEH one needs to wait for 9 minutes for initiating the prayers.

In Buddhist cosmology, the bodhisattva of the Sun is known as Sūryaprabha, that means "having the light of the sun". The Ramayana has Rama as a descendant of the Surya, thus belonging to the Suryavansha or the clan of the Sun. The Mahabharata describes one of its warrior heroes, Karna, as being the son of the Pandava mother Kunti and Surya.

In Bharata, at Konark, in the state of Odisha, a temple is dedicated exclusively to Surya Dev and this Konark Sun Temple has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple at Arasavilli was constructed in such a way that on the day of Radhasaptami, the sun's rays directly fall on the feet of the Sri Suryanarayana Swami, the deity at the temple.

One may face time constraints every day OR one may find a valid excuse, for specially visiting their religious places of worship, especially when one is travelling, or out of town. But the Almighty has provided a special solution to mankind, whereby one just needs to look up in the morning and worship the mighty SUN / SURYA DEV / KHORSHED YAZAD and your day gets filled with immense light, energy and wisdom.
